On May 29, 2024, a group of 22 participants from Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines visited Euglena Co., Ltd. in Tsurumi, Yokohama. The visit was organized by Leave a Nest and aimed to provide the students with an insight into the cutting-edge research and innovations at Euglena Co., Ltd. The visit included tours of three of Euglena's research institutes: the Advanced Science Research Institute, the Human Science Research Institute, and the Resource Circular Technology Research Institute. The facilities are located at Yokohama Bio-Industry Center, 2nd Floor, 1-6 Suehiro-cho, Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa 230-0045

Schedule

The visit followed the schedule below:

1. Introduction of Euglena by Dr. Kengo Suzuki: Dr. Kengo Suzuki, the co-founder of Euglena Co., Ltd., provided an overview of the company's mission, research focus, and future projects. His presentation highlighted Euglena's commitment to sustainability and innovation in biotechnology.
2. Q&A Session: The introduction was followed by an engaging Q&A session, where students asked insightful questions about Euglena’s research processes, business strategies, and future plans.
3. Student Presentations: Selected students from Ateneo de Manila University presented their proposals related to business and management strategies for Euglena Co., Ltd. Each presentation lasted for approximately 3 minutes, followed by a Q&A session. The proposals showcased the students' understanding of the company's operations and their innovative ideas for business development.
4. Lab Visit: The group was then taken on a tour of Euglena's research laboratories. They visited the Advanced Science Research Institute, the Human Science Research Institute, and the Resource Circular Technology Research Institute. The tours provided a detailed look at the cutting-edge research and technologies being developed at Euglena.
5. Group Picture: To commemorate the visit, a group picture was taken with Dr. Kengo Suzuki and the attending staff from Euglena Co., Ltd.
