Efficacy Evaluation of Microneedle Beauty Serum Containing Euglena-derived Ingredients and Egg-derived Cosmetic Ingredients

Introducing CELLAMENT®

CELLAMENT® is a skincare cosmetic ingredient derived from the culture supernatant of chicken amniotic membrane (placenta-like) tissue cells.

Three cells - the amnion, yolk sac, and allantois - play a role similar to the placenta. These cells secrete growth factors, amino acids, vitamins, and other physiologically active substances beneficial to the skin. Effects such as fibroblast proliferation promotion, antioxidation, moisturization, and sebum synthesis inhibition have been confirmed.

Euglena Extracts

Euglena (Scientific name: Euglena gracilis Z, Japanese name: Midorimushi) is a unicellular microorganism classified as a microalga. It accumulates a wide variety of nutrients, including paramylon, which is a β-1,3-glucan, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and unsaturated fatty acids.

  • Hydrolyzed Euglena Extract: Activates skin immune cells and promotes the synthesis of hyaluronic acid through them.
  • Euglena Extract EX: Promotes the proliferation of human dermal fibroblasts and epidermal keratinocytes, while also removing aged cells.

Preliminary Research: Synergistic Effects of CELLAMENT® and Euglena Extracts

Under experimental conditions, human epidermal keratinocytes were cultured with Euglena-CELLAMENT® formulation, hydrolyzed Euglena extract alone, Euglena Extract EX alone, and CELLAMENT® alone. The results showed that the Euglena-CELLAMENT® formulation had an additive effect on the proliferation of human epidermal keratinocytes. This suggests that combining the ingredients produces a higher effect than using them individually.

Introducing "CONC Wrinkle Injection"

The "CONC Wrinkle Injection" is a new localized beauty serum that can deliver beauty ingredients directly to the deep layers of the stratum corneum using injectable microneedles. It contains CELLAMENT®, two types of Euglena extracts, next-generation retinol, and three types of hyaluronic acid.

Efficacy Evaluation (Human Clinical Trial)

  • Participants: 10 individuals (average age 40.5 years)
  • Usage: Applied twice every night in addition to regular skincare. The serum was spread evenly across the face after injection. The same cleansing, face washing, sunscreen, and makeup products were used throughout the trial.

Results showed an increase in skin viscoelasticity (R2) after 2 and 4 weeks, with significant improvement observed after 4 weeks (p<0.1). Instrumental evaluation using wrinkle replicas showed a decrease in wrinkle area ratio, total wrinkle volume, and wrinkle depth after 4 weeks. In the questionnaire evaluation, scores improved in all items except "today's condition" after 4 weeks. Notably, "smoothness" improved after 2 and 4 weeks, and "skin sagging" and "skin condition" improved after 2 weeks.

Conclusion

The "CONC Wrinkle Injection", which can directly inject a beauty serum containing CELLAMENT® and two types of Euglena extracts, along with next-generation retinol and three types of hyaluronic acid, has the potential to improve skin viscoelasticity and reduce wrinkles. Furthermore, questionnaire evaluations showed significant improvements in skin smoothness, sagging, and overall condition. Thus, the CONC Wrinkle Injection is believed to be a cosmetic product that can enhance skin elasticity and provide noticeable improvement effects.
