Hinomaru Limousine Corporation and Euglena Hold Departure Ceremony for Bus Fueled with BiofuelFree Circular Buses in the Marunouchi and Nihonbashi Areas and Sightseeing Buses for Sustainable Tokyo Tourism

Hinomaru Limousine Corporation and Euglena Co., Ltd. announce that, as part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Business Promotion Support Project for Biofuel Utilization", they held a departure ceremony for the "Sky Bus," fueled with next-generation biodiesel, today, October 7, 2024, at the Sky Bus Marunouchi boarding area in front of the Mitsubishi Building.

Under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Business Promotion Support Project for Biofuel Utilization," Hinomaru Motor and Euglena aim to reduce CO2 emissions and promote decarbonization in Tokyo by using Euglena's blended biofuel "SUSTEO" (diesel/HVO 20% blend), which is procured and delivered by Euglena, in the following vehicles operated by Hinomaru Motor at Tokyo Station:

  • Free circular buses "Marunouchi Shuttle," "Metro Link Nihonbashi," and "Metro Link Nihonbashi E Line"
  • Sightseeing buses "Sky Hop" and "Sky Bus"

SUSTEO: A biofuel made from sustainable biological resources (biomass) that do not compete with food production or cause deforestation. It is expected to have a CO2 reduction effect compared to fossil fuels. Additionally, as its molecular structure is the same hydrocarbon as petroleum-based diesel, it can be used directly in machinery and vehicles that run on diesel.

At the departure ceremony, a test ride on the "Sky Bus" fueled with "Susteo" was also conducted.

Through their participation in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Business Promotion Support Project for Biofuel Utilization," Hinomaru Motor and Euglena will continue to build a system that contributes to the decarbonization of Tokyo.
